At universities and colleges, sports and social activities are just as important as classes and libraries, which should receive equal financial support to that of the latter.

Nowadays, the significance of sports and social interactions are increasingly augmented. Some claim that the financial portion of sports and social activities should be equivalent to classes and libraries at universities and colleges. However, from my standpoint, academic institutions are undertaking an obligation to support their students by offering a wide range of knowledge and practices, much more significant than sports and social activities offered on campus.

Admittedly, physical health and social interactions are complementary elements for a student to accomplish, with an exact combination of one’s academic skills. The government has promoted the overall development of students on campus, cultivating individual characteristics, such as belongingness and team spirit. There are few other ways better than organizing competitions among different classes to enhance classmates’ cohesions, which might exert essential influences on their careers.

However, though the essence of sports and social activities can not be overlooked, we should emphasize universities and colleges’ crucial and genuine role much more. No matter what the conditions are, universities and colleges are academic-oriented, whose utmost goals are to promote talents and experts in specific fields. The highest percentage of admission evaluation is one’s academic competence. Most students in China strive to get admission to universities and colleges, to “survive” in intense competition, largely on account of the prioritized resource of scholarship of one academic institution, instead of great sports equipment or assorted movements. lots of famous universities are equipped with superb libraries and studying environments, targeting igniting students’ ardor for academic work. The support for classes and libraries matters, absolutely, as this kind of support can boost the level of scholarship straightforwardly. Furthermore, it is not fair to cut the subsidy in half arbitrarily. The campus should distribute assets with the consideration of one’s unique features. For example, as an institution that is prominent in sports, it is rational to portion a larger part of the resource to sports than the usual for popularity and publicity.

Combined with the reasons above, I argue that though sports and activities count for students, academic support should be in the dominating position for future student development.
