With an increasing population communication via internet and text messaging, face-to-face communication will become a thing in the past. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Nowadays , as the world is getting more crowded, some believe that communication via internet and text messaging will finally eclipse and replace the traditional face to face communication . I strongly disagree with this because there are elements in face to face communication that none of others can replace.

To begin with, a growing population will not isolate individuals. Take big cities such as Tokyo and New York as example, one has to admit that high technology is common in those cities, the fact is although people text and video chat, face to face communication is still the major way of communication,. One can see even though new forms of communication are popping up , old ways of communication still thrives even in big cities.

Furthermore, face to face communication endows people more trust and is more effective than other modes of communication. A person cannot fully trust another without even meet them, they do not feel the same connection and devotion that those who meet one on a regular basis. Facial expressions and body languages, the non-verbal cues can show how a person really behaves , without face to face communication , it could all be in vain. Additionally , when one is conversing with another who disagrees with former, it is troublesome and cumbersome to convince the latter by email or text messages: they could either not be convinced by just few lines on email or just skimming the words one wrote. Face to face communication helps people get knowing to one another and develop trust, it is also more efficient to convince others by talking face to face.

To sum up, although new modes of communication is changing the way people communicate , the traditional face to face communication is still a predominant way of communication .
