People tend to seek a secure job when the “jungle law” prevails in modern society. In this case, they can afford to settle for mediocrity and don’t have to exert themselves to dominate their rivals. Yet it may be a better choice to wait for a more satisfying job instead of taking a secure job. In other words, such kind of risk is worthwhile in the long run.

Few would deny that people lose momentum when they have to repeat the same work, which usually a secure job is featured with. As such, this kind of job stifles people’s creativity, leaving them chained to the deadening routine. By contrast, if people take some risks and try their best to get a more satisfying job, they can find the aim to move on. The urge to lead a desired life compels them to become more original or at least motivated. Otherwise, people keep standing where they are, which means falling behind in the fierce competition.

Additionally, people can improve themselves during the waiting process. Even though they finally fail to achieve their goal, they still learn a lot when it comes to their preparation for the job. After all, it is the process of perfecting themselves that matters. For example, my brother finished his master’s degree in economics. His family persuaded him into taking a job in a local bank. But he didn’t follow and waited for his ideal job instead. Although he didn’t get the job, he learned the interviewing method and many professional skills, which gave him an edge in the next job in a top 500 enterprise. Thus, it is no exaggeration to say that people may miss a lot if they can’t step out of their comfort zone.

In conclusion, the chance to get a more satisfying job is worth the wait. When people still afford to make mistakes, it is better to take some risks. Otherwise, the secure but dull life can exert a negative effect in the long run.
