In some countries, students pay their college or university fees, while in others, government pays or them. Do you think the advantages of government paying the money outweigh the disadvantages?

Generally speaking, the charge for university is much higher than primary education or secondary education; hence some students fail to afford such fees. One possible solution is that the government should undertake this responsibility, while the disadvantages are far more than the disadvantages.

Such is human nature that people is less likely to cherish something easily to acquire, not to mention colleges students. For example, students may not only be distracted when studying in the class, but also absent from the class which is detrimental for their study. Furthermore, in terms of the government, it is a waste of money.

Another problem associated with this is that such government expenditure will escalate, imposing a burden on taxpayers. It is widely known that most education payback is uncertain. Governments have to pour more money in education, while other essential services like health care and public facilities construction will be underfunded.

There are, however, some advantages. Some students will lose the opportunity to enter into university because of their deprived background. However these issues can be addressed strategically. On one hand, universities can provide scholarship for those outstanding but poor students. On the other hand, the bank can supply low-interest loans or interest-free loan.

In conclusion, I think the government should not provide university fund for students, which will lead to some downsides.
