In twenty years there will be fewer cars in use than there are today.

Nowadays, driving cars is an inseparable part of people’s daily life. If one goes to a street, he or she could see lots of cars going on their ways. Many people drive to go to work, to visit their parents and friends, to somewhere they could enjoy their weekends. It is unlikely to be fewer cars in twenty years.

People need cars. Since the very old days, people have cars which are driven by horses. Officers use them to convey orders from King. Businessmen use them to carry their goods. Rich people use them to travel around the world. In ancient time, cars are limited to only a small amount of numbers due to the under-developed technology. However, now cars are everywhere in cities and countries. So it makes sense to expect there would be more and better cars in the future.

People are always looking for better cars. In the last century, people replaced horse-driven cars by steam-driven ones. During the most recent a few decades, people developed more advanced cars. People had invented railways that run underground cities to save space in cities, cars driven by fossil that could run faster. Scientists now are interested on electricity-driven cars for a cleaner environment. They are also interesting on self-driven cars inspired by artificial intelligence to make traffic more ordered. The research on cars is always a promising area, so cars would also have a promising future.

Someone may argue that there are too many cars today that make inefficient traffic jams. Yes, this is a fact. However, there always be problems and challenges in people’s history. We could not totally deny this technology just for a few problems that could be solved. I think cars have done a great job in the past and I believe cars would do better in the coming future.
