At present, there are both mixed schools and seperate schools in the society. Some people hold the view that seperate schools benefit children more while others hold converse opinion.
On the one hand, single-sex schools have many strengths. First, they make learning more efficient in comparison with mixed schools. In general, boys and girls have advantages over different strands. As a result, seperate schools could teach lessons aiming at different genders by seperating male from female to reduce distraction and boost students’ efficiency. Additionally, they are more likely to prevent crime. It is impossible for a man to harrass a noman in a single-sex school for there are only boys in boys’ schools and girls in girls’ schools.
On the other hand, mixed schools have benefits as well. Above all, mixed schools allows pupils to work closely with the opposite sex and develop their teamwork skills. As is known to all, It is unavoidable for students to get along with the opposite sex. Mixed schools prepare the students for adult life and employment. In addition, the pupils in mixed schools are more likely to make students achieve their potential. Boys and girls have more chances to communicate with each other, which allows pupils to make up for their shortcomings. For example, boys could help girls with arithmetics and science which they are not good at.
As far as I am concerned, mixed schools as well as seperate schools both have a variety of advantages. It is up to the parents and children to determine which model is preferable.
