As countries develop, more and more people buy and use their own cars. Do you think the advantages of this trend for individuals outweigh its disadvantages for the environment?

It is quite common these days for people in many countries to purchase and travel by private cars. I believe that this trend would lead to more benefits for people than drawbacks for the environment.

The reason for this trend may involve the recognition that people who live car-free may be rather time-consuming in terms of commuting and traveling to other places. By contrast, those who have spent money purchasing cars or owned private cars might be more efficient to go to work than other means of transportation and have a broader opportunities of going to popular spots. They tend to be more relaxed and joyful, which are very important emotion enhancers in this competitive society, as well as giving them an advantage in terms of having more time to cope with other challenges of life.

There are, however, some disadvantages. If people drove their cars quite frequently, vehicles would emit significant amount of pollutants to the air, resulting in climate change, which can cause extreme weather such as hurricanes and heavy snow. There is no advantage if people burning much fossil fuels. This could use up non-renewable resources so that there are not enough resources in the future for people to use, which is detrimental to maintain the sustainable development of society. However, these issues can be addressed strategically within the policy adopted.

As discussed above, if tens of millions of people tend to purchase and drive their own cars, it will help them save time and enjoy scenery from different tourist attractions. Although this may also have minor negative impacts, these impacts can be avoided. Thus, I believe that this trend have more merits than deficiencies.

    Issues:

    1. About 50% of the sentences exceed 20 words. Shorten/split them.
    2. About 15% of the sentences are passive. Convert some of them into their active counterparts.

I will send you screenshots to illustrate specific problems/errors.

It is quite common these days for people in many countries to purchase and travel by private cars. I believe that this trend brings great convenience to  more people’s lives, but it also causes some problems for the environment.

The reason for this trend may involve the recognition that people who live car-free may commute by overcrowded buses and trains. By contrast, those who owned private cars might gain more freedom in their work and life and travel long distances. They can live in the countryside and work in the downtown. Therefore, driving private cars can improve the quality of their lives, which seems to be more pleasant.

There are, however, some disadvantages. If people drove their cars quite frequently, vehicles would emit a significant amount of pollutants to the air. It may result in climate change, which can cause extreme weather like hurricanes and heavy snow. Besides, there is no advantage if private cars burn much fossil fuels. This could use up non-renewable resources so that there are insufficient resources in the future for people to use. Consequently, it is detrimental to maintain the sustainable development of society. On the other hand, people can address these issues within the policy adopted.

As discussed above, the increasing number of private cars indicates that people are living a better life than before. Although this may also have minor negative impacts, we can take active measures to reduce those effects that private cars may have on the environment. Thus, I think that this trend has more merits than deficiencies.

It is quite common these days for people in many countries to purchase and travel by private cars (singular). I believe that (unnecessary) this trend brings great convenience to more people’s lives, but it also causes some problems for the environment (be specific, what kind of conveniences does it bring and what kind of problems to the environment does it cause. Include some examples in introduction).

The reason for this trend may involve the recognition (wordy, simplify) that people who live car-free may (unnecessary) commute by overcrowded buses and trains. By contrast, those who owned (verb tense error) private cars (simplify – “car owners”) might (“can”) gain more freedom in their work and life and travel (“by traveling”) long distances. They can live in the countryside and work in the (unnecessary) downtown. Therefore, driving private cars can improve the quality of their lives, which seems to be more pleasant (unnecessary).

There are, however, some disadvantages. If people drove (verb tense error) their cars quite frequently, vehicles would (unnecessary) emit a significant amount of pollutants to the air (simplify). It may result (“This results”) in climate change, which can cause extreme weather like hurricanes and heavy snow. Besides, there is no advantage if private cars burn much fossil fuels (unclear). This could use (“Private car ownership uses”) up non-renewable resources so that there are insufficient resources in the future for people to use (simplify). Consequently, it is detrimental to maintain (verb tense error) the sustainable development of society. On the other hand, people can address these issues within the policy adopted (unclear, what policy?).

As discussed above, the increasing number of private cars indicates that (unnecessary) people are living a better life than before. Although this may also have minor negative impacts, we can take active measures (discuss these in the above paragraphs) to reduce those (the) effects that private cars may have on the environment. Thus, I think that this trend has more merits than deficiencies.
