Nowadays, more and more jobs and tasks are done by machines, which involve hard physical work. Do the positive effects of this trend outweigh the negative effects?
Recently, numerous machines are used by a growing number of companies and factories to complete physical work which was traditionally done by human workers. Though this practice has its drawback, I believe that it is a positive development.
Admittedly, Machines can decrease the amount of exhausting tasks which require much strength. At the same time, they help workers reduce some diseases caused by too much physical work, for example, back pain, broken arm etc. In other words, staff can stay healthy and do other work for a long time. This can not only extend individuals’ lives but also help companies and factories to earn more profits.
Besides that, machines can boost work efficiency due to their fast speed and powerful electric energy. People will feel tired after finishing so many physical tasks, for instance, carrying, moving and packaging products. Worse still, workers are required to stand in their place and repeat the same actions a million times in a short time. In contrast, machines can maintain a high speed to keep working without stopping. With such ability, working efficiency would surely be improved.
However, machines may get some people into trouble, especially those from deprived backgrounds. Not having sufficient finance to be well educated when they were young, they are hardly able to do anything but physical jobs. If machines work better, employees will lose their work and salaries which support themselves and their family. Under such circumstances, they have no idea about how to afford their living cost, but to commit crimes to get quick money. It apparently has a negative influence on the progress and development of our society
In conclusion, I think that physical jobs done by machines leads to positive effects, although some employees may be in trouble due to the lack of specialized knowledge
