There is no doubt that the amount of waste has increased year by year, which is mainly produced by human. This essay will examine the reasons and discuss some possible solutions.
Firstly, excessive packaging of goods is one of the main causes of the increase in rubbish. Nowadays, online shopping becomes so popular due to its character of convenience that the number of parcels has a dramatic upward trend, packages of which have become the main waste. In the meanwhile, most of materials that companies choose for packages are non-reusable and individuals have not developed the habit of sorting garbage yet; therefore plenty of packages which cannot be recycled heap up and make a negative effect on environment. Next, with the birth of throwawayism, it seems that people prefer to choose those cheap goods with a new look but not reusable, instead of reusing and repairing old ones. As a result, both the old and the used will be abandoned, produced more garbage.
Although it is extremely hard to work out, there are still some feasible solutions for governments. It is necessary to formulate related laws and regulations. For instance, governments are supposed to give a list of manufacturing companies which shows a clear range of material constraints in packages. Next, governments should promote and encourage individuals to separate and recycle waste through some welfare: people can trade used plastic bottles and papers for food and daily necessities. Besides, there could be a tax on the garbage disposal, which aim at decreasing the amount of throwaway consumption.
In conclusion, there are many causes of rubbish increasing currently such as packages and throwawayism, however, governments are able to curb the growth of waste by setting laws and making an initiative.
