Nowadays, environmental protection is becoming more and more popular and people are likely to take actual action to help environment improvement. However, the question what is the most efficient way to help the nature recover is bothering people. There are three main solutions, planting trees and building more parks, reducing local plastic bags consumption, and promoting public transportation. Personally, I prefer the second choice.

Plastic products, one of the greatest investments of the history, greatly change our lifestyle and industry, provide unbelievable convenience, and soon become an unavoidable part of our life. According to a former study by People’s Daily, in China, daily plastic consumption could reach up to 15 tons. However, the only shortage for plastic bags is degradation. The particles of plastics could exist steadily for millions or even billions of years. Things may get even worse when those plastic particles gathering in animals, absorbed by humans. Moreover, plastic production releases poisonous gas and water. The emergency of reducing plastic bag consumption is clearly. With less plastic bags, we can significantly reduce the pollution and promote environmental self-purification.

Planting trees and arranging more parks is also charming for environmental protection. Trees and plants in parks will absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, help create a positive cycle for environmental recovery. But one essential problem of this solution is too much time and money. It may take decades to see the change, compared to reducing plastic use.

Some others declare that developing public transportation is another useful way, considering the numbers of cars on the street and the waste gas those cars put into the air. It may work somehow. But this option is not suitable for China, because the current public transportation system has already covered most areas and needs. People in downtown are used to taking public buses, subways, and bicycles. There is no need to arrange more buses or subways.

Taking all above into consideration, it is very easy to draw the conclusion that persuade reducing the consumption of plastic bags is the most useful and effective way to protect and improve the natural environment.
