Many people prefer to watch foreign films than locally produced films. Why could this be? Should governments give more financial support to local film industries?

There is a fact that many people think exotic films are more attractive than their local produced movies. Several reasons could explain why is it the case. From my perspective, government is supposed to propel the development of film-making industries by subsidizing them.

Why many people prefer watch movies that are produced oversea could get down to two reasons. For one thing, many established film-making companies have large budget for the actions, special effects and even shooting in some spectacular places. For example, the Hollywood blockbuster like “Avadar” is attracting more and more people to watch because of  mature technique of special effect. For another thing, many oversea film industries owe a group of world-known producers and directors, even in their work  many famous actors and actresses star which could account for the tendency of people to films produced outside the nation partially .

In my eyes, the government or related authorities should subsidize local film-making to better compete with formidable rivals in this market. Firstly, film-making need a large amount of fund to cover all aspects of costs in the period of producing their works, like videos, or movies. If government could support this industries financially it would help for the industries runner to pay crews, actors, actresses and even equitment needed. Therefore it allows this industries to better keep pace with international trend, and to produce some movies which could cater for international and domestic tastes. Nevertheless, increasing rate of employment as well as soaring nation’ publicities will see in the coming future if government offer the funding on film making. To produce a film would require a number of personnel stuffs so that supporting this industries could be helpful in coping with unemployment. Further, through exhibiting local distinctive culture and sightseeing spots, it may obtain attentions around the globe, therefore to improve local tourism sector.
