Some employers are giving increased importance to employing people with good social skills in addition to good qualifications. Do you agree or disagree social skills are as important as good qualifications for success in their jobs?

It is true that more and more employers are paying attention to interpersonal skills rather than academic qualifications.I don’t share with the opinion that social skills are of the same importance as qualification.Although,neither soft skills nor certificates alone will guarantee career success in most cases.I do think that their significance vary from profession to profession.

In professions involving lots of communications, social skills are at least as important as qualifications. Take sales as an example, Their main job is to promote and sell products of their companies. So gaining the trust of their potential clients and keeping a good relationship with them seem to be the most important thing

.And this is where social skills work,rather than some papers which show qualifications. Transferable skills such as communication would be the characters that employers take into consideration for related job vacancies.

As for knowledge-based professions,including doctors,accountants and IT programmers, qualifications are more important than those social skills. For instances, there are strict rules of becoming a doctor. At first, you should successfully graduate from your university after at least 7-8 years learning and get diploma. Then, doctors’ vocational qualification is also needed before you really walk into this career. Patients need to be physically cured rather than juts have a good conservation. For these jobs, qualifications definitely weigh much more than adorable personal characteristics like talkative or eloquent.

In conclusion, the significance of social skills and qualifications should depend on specific professions.
