Some parents give their kids (primary or middle school) a small amount of money weekly, while others fear this may have a bad influence on kids. What is your opinion?

Parents wonder whether give a small amount of money weekly to their children will do harm to children’s development. In my opinion, this way of giving money to children is beneficial to kids’ development rather than having a bad influence.

First, a small limited amount of money can help kids to form the opinion of asset management. Because when kinds just have a limited money in their hands, they have to think twice about how to use money in a appropriate way. For example, if they want to buy an expensive toy or technical device, they are supposed to be thrifty in the daily life thus they can accumulate their pocket money for something they have desired for a long period of time. In this way, day by day, they can form a opinion about how to deal with their money to achieve their purpose, like a gift or a travelling.

Second, a limited amounted of money every week  help children avoid the habit of abusing money. If children can accept a large amount of money in a short period of time, they may just use these money as much as they like without any temperance. For example, they buy some food which are delicious and appealing to them, but not healthy enough, like cookies, KFC, cakes and so on. Or sometimes they want to show off themselves so they treat their friends and classmates with the money given by their parents, which Is a kind of waste towards parent’ hard work.

Admittedly, The small amount of money have some disadvantages. For example, kids need a large amount of money suddenly but they can not hand over it immediately, but this condition is rare considering they are just primary or middle school student, excepting for tuition fees. And they can just tell the truth to the parents if they need tuition fee or something else, usually parents can confirm this request by contacting with the teachers.

To sum up, I reckon that it doesn’t have bad influence to children by giving a small amount of money to them weekly.
