It is a highly-advanced digital world. Some people believe that the climbing use of electronic devices leads to people’s lack of communication in reality. In my view, it is the shifts in lifestyles and various social media apps that undermine the significance of face-to-face communication.

There is an upward trend of using popular social media apps to exchange messages or post the latest news. The technological development enhances the booming of those kinds of apps with multiple functions. Many people are prone to rely on taking advantage of apps applied in mobile phones and computers. For example, employers can make a vidual call to a partner in seconds without wasting time on the way to another company; computer applications such as Skype enable employees to take an online interview regardless of where they live as long as it is compatible with the Internet. In the end, much more satisfying goals can be gained not by talking to others in person but by different apps downloaded in either cell phones or computers.

Moreover, I contend that tight time schedule cut the face-to-face communication. These days many people, young people, in particular, lead a hectic lifestyle in order to survive in fierce job market or cater to the whole family’s needs. Hardly can they find adequate time to meet others, let alone to interact with people in person. It is universally believed that time is an invaluable asset, so every second of waste related to interactions in real life might have adverse impacts on youngster’s job or study prospects.

To summarize, the social context puts people in desperate need of time management, which more or less contributes to less spending time on face-to-face communication. Also, the advanced social media apps provide them with more handy ways to communicate through electronic gadgets rather than time-consuming real-life talks.
