Students nowadays do not respect their teachers as much as they did in the past.

Nowadays, as the development of modern society, students’ idea has changed a lot. Some might say that present students still show respect to their teachers. They, however, so not realize that due to some objective reasons, even though students do respect their teachers, they do not respect their teachers as much as they did in the past. Thus, I tend to agree with this statement.

A primary reason is that teachers are not the main sources to require knowledge. In 21th century, technology has developed so quickly, especially the Internet. Also, the Internet products have become more and more cheaper and most people could afford them. Therefore, basically all the young children are able to get access to the Internet by using mobile phones and computers. Through this new lifestyle, whenever students face difficulties, they could search on the Internet directly because we can find everything on the Internet. In the past, the only way to solve academic problems is to ask for teachers, while students have few chances to communicate with teachers now. So, students would feel that teachers are not as important as before.

In addition, present students typically remain critical thinking ability. The critical thinking ability comes from people’s independent lifestyle. In the past, people seldom had chances to find out the truth of so many things, since it is difficult to transmit information. Therefore, they could not train their critical thinking ability due to lack of information. However, students can get access to all kinds of information through plenty of ways such as televisions, computers and so on. When teachers say some personal viewpoints, most students will not direct accept them. In adverse, they would try to understand these things in the Internet and learn to judge whether teachers’ opinions are true. Students remain incredulous to their teachers, so they do not respect their teachers as much as before.

Eventually, as the reasons listed above, I tend to agree this statement.
