The best way for teachers to make students become more interested in a subject is to explain how beneficial the subject will be later outside the school.

The majority of teachers pay close attention to stimulating students’ interest in study due to increasing importance of education. Most of people hold that explaining the importance and usefulness of lessons can interest students most. However, from perspective, I do not agree with that statement.

Granted, telling usefulness and benefit of the disciplines enables students to study hard, especially to college students. Clearly, students in university are not only mature enough to comprehend cause and effect, but also are faced with choices after graduating. If a subject is helpful for their future career, they may study hard and master knowledge. In this context, the benefit of subjects explained by teachers is highly essential, which will arouse students’ interest in study.

However, the personal fascination of teachers, like humor, provides more valuable opportunities for students with devoting their passion for study. To be specific, if a student loves a teacher who is humorous, kind and knowledgeable, he or she will love to study courses the teacher teaches. On the contrary, students may hate learning the subject because of the boring and strict teacher. Thus, it is the teacher with a lot of charm that promotes students’ interest in working hard.

Secondly, using interesting teaching methods exerts a positive effect on triggering students’ passion on study. Clearly, different teaching approaches have different influence for students to gain, understand and master knowledge. For example, students understand some topic of biology process better by watching videos rather than reading books; students gain knowledge by doing some chemical response personally rather than reciting the equations; students grasp using English better by practicing with other students instead of reading the passage. Thus, only by effective teaching methods, can students be more interested in learning.

In conclusion, personal attractiveness of teachers and diverse approaches of teaching help students promote their passion on learning, although telling the benefit and the usefulness of disciplines also play a role to some extents.
