    As it is well known, there is a huge difference in educational concepts between the East and the West. This issue is always intensely debated because it is closely related to each student. For this reason, this essay will argue the western education should be better for the personal development of students by discussing the difference in educational concepts between the East and the West.
    In western education, it is believed that the cultivation of personal abilities is considered to be the core of education. Usually, it is encouraged that students should take actively participate in the learning process and create their ideas although these opinions are sometimes incorrect. It is expected that students could develop Independent awareness, exploration spirit, and teamwork skills, during the process of refining and evaluating their own opinions. As a result, in such an education system, it is clear that personal comprehensive abilities could be fully developed.
    Compared with Western education, it is well known that examination results attract more attention in Eastern education. Therefore, students are generally not allowed to make mistakes in the learning process. They are encouraged to learn by rote and repeat a lot of practice. Although sometimes it would be useful for students to achieve good results and consolidate basic knowledge, many students have lost their creativity and learning pleasure because of rote learning.
    In conclusion, this article compares the main differences in educational concepts between the East and the West. Although Eastern education seems it is helpful for students to have a solid knowledge base, Western education could, on the contrary, better cultivate the comprehensive abilities of students and enable students to adapt to society more quickly.
