The government and corporation should share all their scientific discoveries with other countries in the world?

It is true that sharing scientific discoveries between countries can bring both positive and negative impacts. I would support the argument to not share the discoveries as they can bring potential conflicts, disputes, and warfare.

Firstly, scientific discoveries should not be shared because of the inequality between countries. There is a great difference between rich developed countries such as America, and poor developing countries such as Niger. Countries have their own difficulties and making scientific researches may not be the priority for some. Scientific researches often take large amount of money and time, and the motivation behind these experiments are usually to be more advanced than other countries. If the discoveries must be shared, the governments are unable to benefit from the discoveries as much. Countries will be wanting to wait for others to do the job, and this creates a negative cycle.

In addition, sharing all data can bring conflicts between science groups in different countries. Sharing discoveries means bringing scientists around the globe to work together. Coming from different countries and background with different levels of support, some scientists may hold more descriptive information than others. Then, one problem will be constantly debated: what is considered as a scientific discovery? Does it include specific data or can be simply a statement? The obscure rule have many potential grey-areas. If not managed properly, such a simple rule can lead to international disputes and conflicts.

Many people may argue that sharing scientific discoveries can make the technology developments and history discoveries be made quicker. I agree with this opinion, and sharing discoveries is beneficial in some perspectives. However, science is a broad concept, and too quick developments can lead to negative impacts. For example, what if nuclear technology is made easier to possess and more controllable? This induces more countries holding this dangerous weapon and potential nuclear war. Personally, I think controlling the speed of technological development and create balance between countries is beneficial for humans. Having to share all discoveries can break this balance and should not be accepted.

From the reasons above, it can be concluded that having to share the scientific discoveries to all countries is not a good thing, and we are far from an environment when important information can be shared freely.
