The graph compares the consumption of various energy resources during the period from 1980 to 2030 in US.

From the chart, the figure show us that traditional sorts of energies still take up the major proportion in energy uses. Consumption of petrol and oil see an upward trend during this period. In 1980 the proportion of consumption of petrol and oil started with 35 Q, steadily increasing to about 45 quadrillion units in 2020.And it is expected to consistently go up to almost 50 quadrillion units in future year 2030. Similarly, the amount of coal consumption shared an upward tendency from slightly above 15 Q units in 1980 to 25 quadrillion units in 2020 and coal’s projected consumption is subjected to 30 quadrillion units in 2030.The third most important fuel for British-Natural gas increased from 20 Q units in 1980 to 25 Q units in 2014, before it still have remained and continue to stay at the same level.

Compared with above the three traditional fuels, general consumption of new energies are much lower which are all below 10 quadrillion units. The three new energies began with 4 quadrillion units. Consumption of nuclear and solar/wind slightly raised to 7 Q units and 5 Q units respectively and are going to remain at the same level in the projected years while the consumption of Hydropower see a distinguish pattern which dropped slightly to 3 quadrillion units then stay below 5 quadrillion untis.

In conclusion, consumption of various energies increase during the period from 1980 to 2030 in US except that of Hydropower show a different pattern.
