    The graph compares the rate of smoking among men and women between the years 1960 and 2000.

    The line graph compares the rate of smoking among males and females over a period of 40 years.

    The rates of smoking men stood at a higher level than that of women, but the gap narrowed between 1960 and 2000. In 1960, the amount of smoking men per 1000 people was 600, more than 6 times higher than that of women. After that, the rate of smoking women reached a peak at more than 300 per 1000 people in 1975, while the rate of men decreased to the lowest point at about 500 per 1000 people. In 2000, the two rates of men and women were almost the same, standing at 250 and 200 per 1000 people respectively.

    Over the 40 years, the rate of smoking men showed a downward trend from 600 per 1000 people to about 250 per 1000 people. On the contrary, the rates of smoking women went up between 1960 and 1975, remained stable at just over 300 per 1000 people in 10 years, and decreased to 200 per 1000 people.
