Environmental problems have become a common concern for many. Some people  insist that the main environmental concern is the extinction of plants and animals. Others hold that there are more significant problems. Generally, I believe that the loss of plants and animals is one part of environmental concerns.

Many people consider that the loss of plants and animals is the main environmental issue as  it would destroy biodiversity. The extinction of a species would harm ecological balance. For instance, if wolves died out, the number of sheep would soar since they don’t have predators. And meadows would be damaged by overgrazing.

At the same time, others may argue that peoples’ behaviors would cause more severe environmental issues.  The fact is that the population has been increasing in recent years. Hence, the government exploit  natural resources to meet people’s needs. For example, they cut down trees to make furniture, and to construct houses in order to accommodate the rising population. Additionally, people use too much energy, that would cause the energy crisis.

Personally, although the extinction of plants and animals is serious, it is one aspect of environmental problems. The core of environmental issues is the harmony between man and nature. Human have unlimited access to natural resources like fossil energy sources, lands and marine resources. As a result, their actions deteriorate the environment, such as species extinction.
