Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The most important quality for a successful politician or leader to have is good communication skills.

In my opinion, having good communication skills is the only gateway for a politician or leader to achieving success, owing to its contributions to boosting efficiency and facilitating cooperation.

Never can we ignore the fact that communicative skills play a pivotal role in enhancing relationships between a politician or leader and their fellows. It is widely acknowledged that good communications are the solid foundation for harmonious relationships. And if the fellows can stand into their leaders’ shoes, due to their good relationships, then they will work harder for the whole group to achieve the goal successfully. For example, working for a successful e-commerce company, I have a boss who is really nice and communicative. She is fascinated about holding gatherings with we subordinates after work, at which we can exchange our opinions and feelings equally, leading to a tighter bond between us. Undoubtedly, we spare no effort to work for her, as we feel that we are treated respectfully. Therefore, it is my boss’s good communication skills that make it possible for us to make a combined effort to achieve the prosperity.

Additionally, good communications skills not only lead to better interactions, but also help a politician or leader to gain more cooperation opportunities. A politician or leader, equipped with various communication skills, is more likely to reach eventual collaboration when he or her tries to negotiate or socialize with a potential partner. Take China first chairman Mao as an example. During the most crucial period of anti-Japanese war, Mao who had brilliant communication tactics held a meeting with the leader of Kuomintang, Jiang, to express his hope that two parties should join hands against Japan army. After listening to his compelling reasons, Jiang was motivated and the two parties worked closely, and finally won a victory. Had not Mao’s good communication skills, Jiang would never be inspired and the whole nation could never enjoy the joy of victory.

Taking into account all these factors, the most important quality for a politician or leader is must be good communication skills.
