Nowadays, due to fierce competition in the society, schools attach greater importance to adopting measures to provide students with high quality of education. Some people claim that it is advisable for the schools to improve facilities, so that it can bring more convenient to the students to study. However, from my perspective, hiring famous professors it the optimal option.
To begin with, there is no doubt that professors are of great importance for imparting knowledge to students. To be more specific, excellent professors have some unique teaching methodologies, which will greatly boost students’ learning enthusiasm. In this circumstance, students will be more likely to spend more time on learning or searching materials related to the class and have a perfect academic performance. Moreover, famous professors are well equipped with some systematic teaching methods and they know where the key points and difficult points are, hence the students’ study efficiency can be dramatically enhanced. In this way, students can not only master comprehensive knowledge, but also have more time to dabble in varies fields and thus contribute to getting a well-rounded development. Besides, professors can teach students more than just knowledge from textbooks, like practical experience, which are valuable and cannot be gained by students’ self-education. Thus, there is every reason to believe that famous professors play a crucial role in passing on knowledge to students.
In addition, wise professors are capable of teaching students right values. Since students don’t have many life experiences and they haven’t established a mature value system. They would like to follow virtues even behaviors from a professor as they consider him as a role model. Specifically, professors have the responsibility to cultivate students’ ability of judging right from wrong. The prevalence of the Internet has given rise to spread of ill information, which exert a negative effect on students. For instance, some violent programs is harmful for students mental health. And professors can tell the students about that and lead them to immerse themselves in academic research. What’s more, being polite is also a good value that students ought to acquire. In this way, students can leave a more favorable impression on others thus have better relationships with others. There are many other values they can learn from the professors, so we can see that professors are essential because they can teach students right values.
It is true that improve equipment might facilitate the study of students. However, only with the instruction of teachers can these facilities be made full use of. From what has been discussed above, I draw the conclusion that schools are supposed to pay attention to employing excellent professors.

When taking the limited budget in to account, the universities have, should they spend more money on facilities or hiring prestigious teachers has been under the limelight of public attention. From my own perspective, I think a university should focus more on its facilities not hiring famous teachers.
First, the newest facilities can provide the students with a better learning environment to help them develop interest in learning. Take my sister Amber, who is major in biology for her bachelor degree, as an example. Once she said to me that she got a perfect GPA thanks to her school library. She usually uses computers there to imitate DNA models and chromosomes models to improve her understanding about genes. She just sits there for a whole afternoon with a coffee in her hands. She considers it so cozy that she is willing to study more. Therefore, if a university is willing to invest a fortune to the facilities, the learning environment will be improved and will have a strong learning atmosphere.
Second, the investment to the facilities can facilitate the teacher’s work efficiency by offering them good research environment. Nowadays, the ranks of the universities are not only related to the scores of students but also associated with scientific research results. The scientific researches in fields like medical science, physics, chemistry, usually requires sophisticated devices such as MRI machine. Only with sufficient financial funds investing in facility upgrading, could researchers have convenient access to the most cutting-edge equipment, and therefore achieve results not only abundant in quantity but also qualified in accuracy.
Someone holds the opinion that the capital should be used for hiring famous teachers as the sophisticated facilities are usually costly. An MRI machine can cost about 700,000 dollars. In comparison with this, hiring famous teachers is much cheaper. This seems sensible, but let’s consider it from a different aspect. That expensive equipment can be used by dozens of students over and over again for years. However, the number of students a professor can teach is limited. In the long run, the investment in facilities instead of the famous professors seems worthier while.
All in all, investing devices can offer students fertile learning environment and can enhance the teacher’s efficiency. As a result, I think a university should focus more on improving its facilities instead of hiring famous teachers.
