Perhaps across the world, tourist sites attract more visitors than the residents. In my opinion, this situation is due to residents’ declining freshness of tourist attractions and promotional campaign made by organizations. Yet those organizations could use some methods to improve the low ratio of locals to tourists .

At first, local people often lack the motivation to explore nearby tourist sites. Most residents, since their childhood, have often visited local scenic spots. Some of them are so familiar with a tourist attraction that they could even be a tourist guide. As a result, they may become disinterested in the place. In contrast, foreign culture could provide an incentive for people to travel. People lived in cities may crowd a castle because of a section of the ancient city wall that they have never seen.

Additionally, foreigners, in most cases, are the target group of travel agents and local governments. These organizations often formulate promotional rules that cater to only tourists. For instance, travel agents may offer discounted prices only for first-time visitors. Such promotional strategies would discourage residents in particular from visiting a place again.

However, policymakers can change this phenomenon in several ways. Considering tourism agencies, they can offer a long-term discounted rate for residents. If local people visited the same place many times in a year, they could enjoy a special deal. In this way, companies can gain a stable annual profit which also benefits residents. As for local governments, they can subsidize companies to provide more discount activities. This policy can be a kind of social welfare for citizens. Meanwhile, the entire society could profit from the cooperation between governments and companies. With cheap ticket prices, citizens may prefer a museum to a bar which helps to form a healthy community.

To sum up, local people often lack the enthusiasm to visit local tourist attractions. So, I am of opinion that governments and companies can give some promotional activities that suitable for local people.

Tourist sites today, most visited by foreigners, have failed to attract nearby residents. In my opinion, this situation is due to residents themselves and some organizations. Yet those organizations could improve the situation.

Most local people have little incentives to explore nearby tourist sites. Residents, since their childhood, have had enough chances to visit a local scenic spot. As a result, they would lack a sense of freshness, after visiting the same place many times. Some of them even lose their desire to travel around their living city. In contrast, tourists attracted by foreign culture tend to crowd any historical site. Meanwhile, foreigners are the target group of travel agents and the local governments. Those organizations often enact rules that only cater to tourists. For instance, travel agents may offer discounted prices only for first-time visitors. These similar actions would discourage people, especially residents, from visiting a place again.

However, policymakers can change the situation in several ways. Considering tourism agencies, they can offer a long-term discounted rate for residents. If local people visit the same place many times in a year, they can enjoy a special deal. In this way, companies can gain annual stable profit while it also benefits residents. As with local governments, they can subsidize companies to provide more discount activities. These policies can be a kind of social welfare for citizens.  Meanwhile, cooperation between governments and companies may benefit the entire society. With cheap ticket prices, citizens may tend to visit museums or historical sites. Their habits would promote a positive and a healthy community culture.

To sum up, local people often lack the enthusiasm to visit local tourist centers. Governments and companies can take some action to improve this situation.

Tourist centers today, most visited by foreigners, have failed to attract nearby residents. In my opinion, several groups are responsible for the low ratio of locals to tourists. Yet companies and local governments can improve the situation.

Most local people have little incentives to explore their living area. This is because residents often have chances to visit a local scenic spot, no matter at the invitation of their friends or relatives. As a result, people would lack a sense of freshness, after visiting the same place many times. Some of them even lose their desire to travel around their living city. In contrast, foreign culture always attracts tourists to crowd every tourist center. At the same time, companies and governments also aim at foreigners rather than nearby residents. The regulations or policies made by them often cater to tourists. For example, many travel agencies offer discounted prices for first-time visitors, while they will need to pay in full if they patronize again. Regulations like this would discourage residents from visiting a place again.

However, policymakers can change the situation in several ways. Considering tourism agencies, they can offer a long-term discounted rate for residents. For example, if people visit the same place many times in a year, they can enjoy a special deal. In this way, companies can gain annual stable profit while it also benefits residents. As with local governments, they can subsidize tourism companies to implement such regulations. Citizens will also welcome this policy as a kind of social welfare. Meanwhile, cooperation between governments and companies would benefit the entire society.  This is because citizens, encouraged by cheap ticket prices, would tend to visit museums or historical sites. That would help society to formulate a positive and healthy atmosphere.

To sum up, local people often lack the enthusiasm to visit local tourist centers. Governments and companies can take some action to improve this situation.
