History tells its own story. Scrutinizing human education history after civilization has been established, it is clear that both educators and educational systems play a vital role in guiding students’ future development. Namely, the major responsibility of education is aiding students fulfilling their potential but not prohibiting their interests, which are usually the bedrock of their potential.

It is undeniable that there are certain occupations, like pilot, astronaut, that hold exacting thresholds, height, sight and other physical items which are scarcely to change, to weed out those under or above these indicators. That is because unqualified candidates may face perilous incidents during in charging the aircraft, so stringent benchmarks must be performed throughout by the educational institutions who have strong responsibility to dissuade unqualified students to forsake the unlikely fields in the consideration of their safety.

That is not to say, in any field, that educators could dissuade students on their interested subjects randomly. In fact, in most fields the professional knowledge and experience, either direct or indirect, can be learned by sufficient endeavor. In this case, the responsibility of education is to provide with corresponding guidance helping students absorb germane curriculum knowledge and career consult, paving for their long-term growth. In other words, except mentioned minor special fields, the majority obligation of educational organizations is assisting their students with their own study rather than making a decision for them about what is right to learn .

Some people may raise doubt, as in the topic, that what if the majors are unsuitable for these students to learn? It is hard to subjectively assess whether a field is fitful for one to study or not. Because nobody could foresee his or her future merely by being based on current performance. This can be perfectly exemplified by the documentation of Albert Einstein, whose theory of relativity won him universal esteem. In his early year, the distinguished physicist could hardly finish his rudimentary education and thus his teacher ever predicted that Einstein would not be suitable to study general courses. However, everyone knows the end. In the last, Albert Einstein changed the world and even acquired the Nobel Prize. Estimating and evaluating a student’s potential in a field, on his or her limited current performance, cannot be more cursory, for nobody ever sees the future ahead and he or she is still under growth. Give students more confidence and less impediment and they may surprise you.

Additionally, passion is the best teacher. Permitting students choosing their own beloved domains means they more can drive themselves on the target study than those not, due to the intensive initiatives and voraciously study desire. This can be justified by the saga of Michael Faraday, the scientist who found Electromagnetic Induction. In the hunger of electromagnetic knowledge, Faraday conducted experiments with iron and bronze scraps and conquered financial obstacles, finding the relation between electricity and magnetic field, establishing the Electromagnetism and accelerating the Second Industrial Revolution. Moreover, even under no professional direction can Faraday reach his goal, not mention those are with auxiliary.

To sum up, only if safety consideration, in most times colleges and universities should show more belief on their students’ potential and provide as much assistance as possible to complete young people’s dreams. In turn, this animate and energetic force turn impossible possible.
