In the modern society, we receive information from all kinds of sources all over the world. And there is a group of people, celebrities, who have a wide influence on the mainstream values, especially for those of young people. I absolutely agree with the statement that celebrities’ opinions are more important to younger people than they are to older people. There are three reasons following.

Firstly, young people have a bigger opportunity to get the opinion than older people. In this society, most information spread through the internet. So do the celebrities’ opinions. And young people are more likely to have time and interests to collect the information about celebrities timely. Because they are raised with the booming of information technologies.  Instead, older people always focus on their family and work more. They are less dependent on the internet.

Secondly, young people are more likely to change their attitude about things than older people due to lack of experience. The old generations have suffered from lots of ups and downs in life. And they will have a deeper understanding towards life and society. But, the young generations don’t have much experiences like older people do. So, they can be touched and changed easily. For example, in casinos, a lot of young people are desperately willing to win a multitude of money from others by just some plays. But, the old people in casinos always remind themselves that there is barely any chance to win continuously and keeping calm is the motto.

Third, young people are easy to believe the words of celebrities. Young people usually have their idols. And they are eager to follow the preference and belief of their idols without any independent thinking. But older people don’t. They will judge the ideas of celebrities as that of a generic person. Because whether a celebrity is famous or not has nothing to do with whether his ideas are right. For example, an American rapper Kanye West announced to run for president of the U.S. in 2020. Since he doesn’t have any political experiences, most people won’t consider him as a choice. But some of his young fans may vote for him, just because they like the person, instead of trusting his ability to lead a country.

In all, I believe the opinions of celebrities are more important to young people than they are to older people. And due to the lack of life experiences, young people really need to consider every important decision twice and never make a judgment on a whim.

i have revised my thesis into two versions

    first:

In the modern society, we receive information from all kinds of sources all over the world. And there is a group of people, celebrities, who have a wide influence on the mainstream values, especially for those of young people. I absolutely agree with the statement that celebrities’ opinions are more important to younger people than they are to older people. There are two reasons following.

Firstly, young people are more likely to change their attitude about things than older people. Because for young generations, they are less determined than the olds. The old generations have suffered from lots of ups and downs in life. And they will have a deeper understanding towards life and society. But, the young generations don’t have much experiences like older people do. So, they can be touched and changed easily. For example, when you walk into a casino, you will probably see a lot of young people who are desperately willing to win a multitude of money from others by just some plays. But, the old people in casinos always remind themselves that there is barely any chance to win continuously and keeping calm is the motto.

Secondly, young people are easy to believe the words of celebrities. Young people usually have their idols. And they are eager to follow the preference and belief of their idols. Sometimes, they don’t judge a thing on their own, instead, they just fully believe the celebrity they fancy. For old people, they are not easy to be influenced by celebrities. They can keep their mind relatively clear and reasonable, even if when it comes to the celebrity they like a lot. They will judge the ideas of celebrities as that of a generic person. For example, an American rapper Kanye West announced to run for president of the United States in 2020.
