Thanks to the development of technology, teachers can make use of more kinds of teaching facilities than before. Some of them prefer to ask students to study by watching recordings before class. From my point of view, this strategy is quite useful, for it helps students like us save a lot of time.

First, this teaching approach shortens the time used for teaching. Students are required to watch the recordings before class, and they can find out what confuses them, asking questions about these parts in class. Then during the lecture, the only thing for professors to do is answering these questions. Thus, teachers no longer need to waste time repeating the part that everyone understands. By doing so, teaching efficiency increases dramatically.

Second, the saved time can be used for discussion. In most cases, students may misunderstand parts of their lectures, and these mistakes can be exposed by us when discussing. Sometimes we share the same errors with others. If so, finding out the solution can be a great opportunity for learners like us. Our ability for expression will be enhanced after enough discussion. Even if we comprehend everything without confusion, others can also inspire our thoughts. For instance, when faced with the same problem, others’ solutions may be more creative and simple than ours. Therefore, in both situations, we benefit from the discussion.

Last but not least, by saving time we have no more chances to do some practices immediately. As is known to us, doing practices as soon as we learn something new helps us better understand the knowledge. If time permits, we can practice a lot. When we practice in class, professors can watch our behaviors and find out whether we understand the lecture deeply. If not, they can point out our faults and repeat explaining. On the contrary, is we do some practices after class, we may never find our errors without teachers’ revision.

In light of the reasons noted above, I believe watching teaching recordings is effective.

On the contrary, however, if we do some practices after class by ourselves, we may never find our errors without guidance.

All in all, because of the reasons mentioned above, I believe this method effective.
