Education, the foundation of one’s personal life, has been valued and even triggers a heated discussion over whether teachers recently received more appreciation. My perspective is that students pay less attention to their teachers now due to technology and personality development.

What must be prioritized is that technology, instead of teachers, becomes more important in kids’ school life by helping students acquire more knowledge and enlarge their social circle. Initially, when meeting with some problems, students could open search websites like Baidu or Google, type in some keywords, wait for less than one minute, then gain thousands of related information, which is more convenient and efficient than enquiring teachers. However, in no case can students have access to such various knowledge several decades ago without teachers’ help, so professors gained more respect in the past. Moreover, by using social media such as Wechat or Facebook, children can make friends with different people who are from many countries and with a distinct culture; by contrast, in the past, it is by attending the teachers’ classes or finishing assignments that teenagers contact with new friends, enlarging their friend circle.

What should be equally worth discussing is that students’ personal development, including independence and innovation, encourages them not to appreciate teachers recently. To begin with, rather than asking teachers for help, children prefer to solve numerous problems independently, like reading books from a library and collecting data from the Internet, and might discard their professors’ resolutions if they figure out better methods. Nevertheless, students relied on and respected their teachers because they consulted every question to tutors in the past. Additionally, when teachers introduce regular answers to some chemical problems,  students would like to communicate with their friends to come up with novel and more convenient ideas, then might criticize teachers’ methods. On the other hand, students would accept their professors’ results and employ them in next study and experiment previously since their innovation was low.
