In my opinion, considering the environment of workplace, this statement is true if one wants to work in government or university as it might not fit for those who want to take a job in a company.

First, for those who want to devote their life time to academic research, it will be their best choice to grasp the job opportunity at once. Competition in universities and institutions is highly harsh. Nearly 30 young doctors have to compete with each other, chasing for only one work opportunity, according to the head of the Department of Sociology, Peking University. Taking a chance away means that you have to start a new challenging competition again. No one could make sure of the possibility of your success. In this case, it is better to get the current job opportunity.

Second, this statement also applies to those who want to get a job in government. According to research in 2019, the content of different works in government resembles regardless of the area and the department one work in the first several years in one’s career. In this case, the benefit of waiting for another job is pretty low and couldn’t cover the risk of giving up the current work opportunity.

Third, this statement might not be suitable for those who want to work in companies. There are plenty of companies offering work opportunities in the market. Even if you give up one opportunity, there are still several offers you could choose. Besides, the salary and environment of different companies are different. The salaries of same jobs in Tecent could be 85 percent higher comparing with Huawei. It is a good choice for one the take one offer away and wait for another one that would be more satisfying.

In conclusion, whether the statement is true depends on the area you want to work in. For those who want to work in university and government, this statement is quite proper. However, if one wants to get a job in private company, this statement might not fit the actual situation of him.
