It is essential for the adult to teach children how to identify what is wrong and what is right. And the first method occurring to their minds is to frighten the child who did something wrong by punishing them , so that they will never make the same mistakes again. From my perspective, I do not consider it to be an appropriate way to educate children.

There are many means to let the child telling the difference between right and wrong. However, teaching them through punishment is not a beneficial way. Simply penalty is unable the child genuinely aware of their mistakes. Since children at an early age who lack the ability to judge right and wrong, they are tending to mimic their patents’ behaves. Children can just be terrified rather than knowing what they did is completely wrong if their parents only taught them by punishing them, and at the same time, they were doing the same incorrect things. For example, children would not know that they need to throw garbage into the trash can once their parents litter it at will.

On the other hand, punishment is detrimental for early age children’s character-training. Childhood is the most vital period of time to develop a child’s character. Also, during the time children’s psychological are so fragile that stern penalize will cause some irreversible harm to the children’s character, especially will turn the child into a timid person and block the way for children to become confident. Children might doubt about themself constantly, whether they are doing the right things or whether they will get punished if doing this. Cause they are too afraid of been punished.

In conclusion, teaching children to tell the difference between wrong and right is our priority concerning, but teach them by punishing them is not a capital idea. Since there are a large number of both gentle and effective ways that can be used to educate children.
