People have different views as to whether the teachers should only take the responsibility of paying attention to the teaching content or teach students how to be a qualified citizen who behaves appropriately and knows how to distinguish right from wrong. I strongly believe that teaching students textbook knowledge and the ability to distinguish right from wrong and do upright conducts are equally important in the whole teaching process.

On the one hand, it is the basic duty of teachers to impart subject knowledge. Through the teaching of basic subject knowledge, such as mathematics, physics, chemistry and other subjects, students can have a preliminary understanding of the world.

However, it is unrealistic for students to learn professional knowledge only from teachers, because students’ behavior will be influenced by teachers imperceptibly. For example, if the teacher respects the students and doesn’t verbalize them face to face when they make mistakes, the students will also know the importance of respecting others, that is, to keep their self-esteem, and they will know how to be humble when they are in conflict with their classmates.Certainly, some people may think that parents can also educate their children about these things, but children and teachers spend the longest time together, and if most of the extra-curricular time is devoted to learning subject knowledge by students. So pupils will have no extra energy to learn these aspects.

In conclusion, teachers are obliged not only to provide the contents of textbooks, but also to help young people judge right and wrong and behave appropriately.
