I agree that it is appropriate for students to choose a university because of its famous professors. In modern society, however, some people may attach importance to a satisfactory salary, so they often tend to choose a university where students get good jobs after graduation. Nevertheless, I strongly hold that choosing universities should be based on the prominence of their professors in consideration of academic achievements, social interactions, and occupational reputation.

First of all, famous professors are likely to have made fascinating academic achievements in the fields they study. Popularity always means highlighting ideas, comprehensive reasoning, repeatable experiments, and stunning publications. Therefore, successful experiences accumulated by famous professors can endow you with competence when seeking a job.

Second, a worldwide acknowledgement often co-exists with strong social connections. Famous professors frequently invite well-known researchers to deliver lectures and communicate with their groups. As a member of the groups, you can have access to their enlightening ideas and even cooperate with these intelligent people. The ability developed during cooperation enables you to perform better when teamwork at work later.

Nevertheless, the trend of a job-oriented application strategy for universities has emerged due to utilitarianism and materialism. Ironically, it is likely that people holding such an opinion don’t comprehend what is a “good” job indeed. A real sense of good jobs is not equal to a high salary and low workload, but reputation. That means what this job can bring to others and how others deem it. A famous and respectable professor can help you find and qualify for a job that bares a good social reputation.

Therefore, I prefer to choose a university having famous professors.
