In today’s competitive world, some people claim that in order to broaden our horizons, we should have hobbies that have nothing to do with our jobs. With respect, I am of the opinion that this statement dose not cover the whole story.

It is not a big deal if all your hobbies are related to your job, only if you enjoy your work. After graduation, people are very clear about their strengths and weaknesses. Most of them have gotten exposure to courses in many different fields in the university. In other words, they already know where their interests lie. Therefore, they are able to make informed choices when deciding which job to take. If they have the competence to get a job that they love, they would be willing to put time-consuming and exhausting effort to make achievements. For example, pianists have to take a lot of time practicing and composing, and painters will spend much time observing and drawing. Artists that I mentioned know how to get inspiration from life. Finding hobbies that have nothing to do with their jobs would be a waste of time. From this perspective, there is no need to be ashamed if all your hobbies are job-related, you are just lucky enough to derive enjoyment from the field you love.

However, having a wide range of hobbies can surly benefit some people’s life. Hobbies like dancing and singing help people get relaxed, which is quite necessary in such a stressful society. Also, hobbies bring people a lot of topics of conversation which help them fit in with a new group other than their colleagues. Normally, people avoid talking about anything serious or professional after work. Topics like the upcoming football events then become the best choices for starting a conversation and making acquaintance with strangers. Thus, the statement that people should have hobbies irrelevant to their jobs makes sense.

Living a life is indeed an art form. With the courage of embracing new things and the wisdom of focusing on what we already have, we can surely live a colorful life.

In today’s competitive world, invention plays an important role in people’s life. It brings about new opportunities and challenges. Some people claim that scientists should allow others to use their inventions for free, in this way, everybody could benefit from the development of technology. However, this statement does not make sense. I believe that inventors should take ownership and charge for their inventions.

Scientists should apply for patents in order to protect their rights. They have put a lot of effort into doing research to make some achievements, which is really time-consuming and exhausting. Apparently, they deserve money as a reward and recognition. Besides, charging money for their innovations might be a major source of income for scientists. With the money they earned, they will be able to buy new instruments and machines to support further researches. They can also recruit assistants to make more ideas come true. Otherwise, if everyone is allowed to use these innovations for free, some merchants would make a big fortune out of the original creations, while the inventors get nothing, which is unfair and disrespectful to them.

Also, we should take experts’ feelings into consideration. Although people who choose to be scientists might not aim to be famous and wealthy, but they do care about the future and applications of their work. Even if they are unknown, they know that they are praiseworthy for it. The truth that their innovations are priced and respected will motivate them. If the government does not protect intellectual property as much as it should, scientists might choose to leave academia since they have no control over their own products, and the society will suffer. Thus, we should guarantee scientist’s right of charge to courage new technical inventions.

It would be wise to say that scientists have the right to charge for their inventions. Besides, it has never been an easy task to protect intellectual property, there is still a long way to go in many countries.
