It’s hard to deny that there is a lot of harmful information on the internet and such a fact leads impressionable people to generate the idea that the internet will have a bad impact on our life. However, such a statement meets both logical and factual fallacies and should be examined meticulously. As far as effectiveness, self-interest, and information diffusion are concerned, I strongly hold the view that the internet provides valuable information for us.
First of all, compared to the low efficient way of finding useful information from many books, the internet provides powerful tools for us to search the information we need with high speed. Meanwhile, in the long term, the internet will let to acquire and learn knowledge efficiently because of the real-time knowledge update! And thus, we are easier to hold the opportunity and succeed in our career. Therefore, the benefit of internet information is obvious even to laymen’s eyes, and we should make good use of the information and improve the quality of its information.
Further, the variety of information also provides a good way for some people to find their self-interest. Take my friend Jim as an example. Jim is a programmer and he became interested in the program when he first touched the internet. He found that the internet was so amazing that we could get all the information easily from it. From that on, he started to use the internet to learn as much knowledge as he could about computers. At that time he also found that computer is a huge subject and we could not master all the knowledge. After that, he also used the internet to realize what he was interested in best, and finally, he became an internet engineer in a big company.
Nevertheless, a voice arises that the internet provides much harmful information to kids and teenagers and should not encourage its development. Ironically, our government can also use it to show some health and useful information to improve the teenager’s self-cognition ability. In addition, it can also protect people from many dangerous situations through the diffusion of self-protection and crime-punished cases. Therefore, I think internet information plays a beneficial character rather than harmful.
