At present, there are both mixed schools and gender-separate schools. Some people hold  that separate schools benefit children more while others hold the opposite opinion. As far as I am concerned, there are advantages to both model. It is hard to say which one is better.

On the one hand, single-sex schools have many strengths. First, they make learning more efficient in comparison with mixed schools. In general, boys and girls have advantages over different areas. As a result, separate schools could reduce distraction and boost students’ academic efficiency by separating boys and girls. Additionally, a single-sex school encourages pupils to choose courses more freely without gender predudice. For example, a higher propotion of girls may choose science which is considered as a natural domain and career path for boys.

On the other hand, mixed schools have benefits as well. Mixed schools prepare students for adult life and employment. They allow pupils to work closely with the opposite sex and develop their teamwork skills. That means students are more likely to get along with the opposite sex.Furthermore, the pupils in mixed schools are more likely to achieve their potential. Boys and girls have more chances to communicate with each other, and consequently pupils could learn from each other and experience different types of skills and talents. For example, boys could help girls with arithmetics and science, which most girls are not good at.

For my part, both mixed schools and separate schools have a variety of advantages. It is up to the parents and children to determine which model is preferable.

Additionally, they are more likely to prevent crime. There is no doubt that a man have no access to harass a woman for the opposite sex does not exist in a single-sex school.

On the other hand, mixed schools have benefits as well. Above all, mixed schools allow pupils to work closely with the opposite sex and develop their teamwork skills. It is unavoidable for students to get along with the opposite sex. Mixed schools prepare the students for adult life and employment.
