In my country, it is necessary for a college to take History courses. Because there is a compulsory course, which is called Modern Chinese History, for every freshman student to take. Some of us consider it a waste of time and often do assignments of other subjects in this class. But I think this course is essential, though I am not majoring in History.

Firstly, history can broaden my horizon. I can learn about the people who lived in the past and what they have done, even why they failed or succeeded. I can use the experience that I gained from history to solve the problem I meet in my own career. In addition, learning history can help me understand some difficult theories in my own subject. For example, I am majoring in international politics. There are many abstract theories I need to learn. If I can combine the theory with history, then I will understand these theories more intuitionistically.

Also, learning history is an interesting activity. If you can really understand the joy of history, you will feel comfortable when you listen to history class or read a history book, especially for us who don’t need to face the stress of writing a history paper, because we are not majoring in it. It’s like you were communicating with people in the past. It’s quite relaxed that having a history class like listening to a story.

From what I said above, I recommend that all of the students in the university should take History courses no matter what subject. Because they can benefit from it very much no matter what they do in the future. Experience is one of the key factors of success. Learning history is learning the experience of the past, let alone it is an interesting activity.

In my country, it is unlikely that a student has no need to take history courses, because there is a compulsory course usually worth four credits, which is called Chinese Morden history. Some of us consider it a waste of time and often do assignments for other subjects in this class. In my opinion, I think it is necessary, though I am not majoring in history.

Nowadays, there are many convenient public facilities that can help citizens live a more comfortable life. For example, it is so common that we can go to a place more than 10 miles away within 1 hour by the metro. Nevertheless, the people who lived 20 years ago would spend half a day doing that. However, some people are still unsatisfied with some public infrastructure nowadays, such as bad internet access. They think the government should spend more money on improving internet access rather than public transportation. In my opinion, I agree with them and I have some points to prove my ideas.

Firstly, transportation is convenient enough in some cities, so we don’t need to pay more money to build more traffic facilities. Taking my city as an example, we already have an efficient operating metro system, but the government still continues building bus stations. I think it is a waste of money because I often see a large number of empty buses running. In addition, the internet facilities are often not good enough for citizens to enjoy. In some areas of my city, there is often no signal for people to use the internet.

Also, the internet infrastructure has more economic value in the future. With the development of artificial intelligence, some new industries in the city will become more important, and they are based on well-developed network facilities. Can you imagine a driverless car running into an area that has no wifi signal? That would be a tragedy.

From what I have said above, I consider spending more money on transportation is a waste of money. The transport system we have had is good enough and we should do some preparation for the industry in the future, thus the government should pay more attention to internet access

In childhood, our parents educated us that lying was wrong. However, when we grew up, we also knew that sometimes we had to tell a lie to avoid worse consequences. So, some people have an idea that sometimes it is better not to tell the truth. From my perspective, I admit they are right, for lying has its positive aspect. And I have some reasons to support the idea.

First of all, telling the truth sometimes will beget unfavorable consequences. For example, a group of bad people was chasing one good person, and they caught him, they would murder him. Moreover, this poor guy ran into your house and hid. Then, Bad people asked you, “where the person go?”. Would you tell them the truth? Everyone knows that lying is an immortal thing. But if you didn’t lie to them, you would make that person get killed. I would lie to them if this terrible thing happened on me. Because I maintain that a person’s life is more valuable than the truth in some situations.

Secondly, dishonesty sometimes prevent us from embarrassed. For example, if your friend was diagnosed with terminal cancer and the doctor told you that he would die within one year. Would you reveal him the truth when he ask you, “what is the doctor said?”. As for me, I would choose to tell him that I don’t know and let someone else inform him the unpleasant news. Because this can reduce the sense of guilt of telling cruel things to others.

From what I have discussed above, I can draw the conclusion that telling the truth is not always the right choice. Because the fact is cruel as well as unhappy in some cases.
