With working in a competitive city, traveling to remote places and communities now gains more popularity. It does benefit local people and the environment in the long term, despite causing environmental destruction in the short term.

Many people choose to visit places away from their own cities, thereby local people may improve the awareness of the outside world by communicating with others who are different in thinking and ways of life. People living here may realize the importance of protecting the environment after talking about the unbridled  development in big cities which is more likely to lead to problems such as air pollution and water pollution. It means that they travel to these places as a form of escapism so that it encourages local people to pay more attention to the environment.

Another benefit is that local people can earn more money by providing visitors with accommodation, transport, food and so on. People with diverse backgrounds and tastes need all kinds of services, which helps some sensible people get rid of poverty by setting up a company or a small group to offer these basic services. The development of the economy can prevent some factories from discharging enormous sewage because they are able to profit in an environment – friendly way.

However, in the short term, numerous travelers pour  into their homeland with much demand of transportation. Most people are willing to take a bus or call a cab instead of walking, if they want to visit more tourist attractions. The consequence is that more emissions from vehicles may cause air pollution which affect local residents ultimately. What is more, it is hard to avoid congestion with a growing number of cars and buses and much time will be wasted on the road.

In conclusion, traveling to remote places and communities brings not only diverse and original ideas but also the job opportunities which are good for local people, although causing pollution with growing demand of transportation.
