    Information on consumer spending of five countries on different items in 2002

    The consumer spending in different countries was different. The chart above describes the percentage of different countries’ spending,which was about three kinds of consumer items in 2002.

    Food, drinks, and tobacco accounted for the largest proportion. The maximum percentage of consumer spending was in Turkey, whose number was 32.14%. It was followed by Ireland, Spain, and Italy, with 28.91%,18.80%, and 16.36% respectively. Sweden had the smallest percentage at 15.77%.

    Clothing and footwear constituted the second most important consumer spending. In Sweden, it got 5.4%, which accounted for the smallest proportion. In Italy, however, the number was 9.00%. The percentage, which were at about 6.5% was similar in other three countries.

    The smallest proportion of nation consumer expenditure was leisure and education. The figure was 4.35% in Turkey. Other four countries’ spending on this item was extremely lower. The percentage was under 4%.

    Overall, it can be said that food, drink, and tobacco was the most important consumer spending of these three items. The following was clothing and footwear. Leisure and education accounted for the smallest proportion.
