Admittedly, either traveling with or without a guide has advantages and disadvantages, respectively. Nonetheless, all things being equal, young people tend to travel alone because they are energetic and ambitious. They are eager to take adventures, and traveling without a guide is like an adventure. Hence, as a young student, traveling alone fits me more.

The economic development attributes to the growing popularity of the DIY trip. Generally speaking, it will be cheaper if we follow a group containing a guide. In such a group, a guide may settle the schedule, the timeline, etc., which means that the free time of tourists is limited. Moreover, the kind of travel agency determines your travel experience. Some agencies would force tourists to buy local products in specific stores, from which they can have feedback income. Other agencies may ignore the tourists’ demands, leaving tourists unsatisfied. Consequently, there are plenty of disadvantages of traveling with a guide.

In comparison, you can design extraordinary travel experience by ourselves, only if you decide to travel alone. Every tourist has their ideal travel routine, and the Internet makes the trip preparation more convenient. We can search the Internet for further advice of the DIY trip from other tourists. Moreover, popular scenic spots do not mean interesting. For instance, as a university student in Guangzhou, I have never been to the Guangzhou Tower, which is almost the most popular spots for tourists. Although we can enjoy the spectacular panorama of the CBD of Guangzhou, the Guangzhou Tower is always so crowded. As we know, we can only see people if we go to the crowded place.

I had a remarkable experience when I travel in Changsha alone. I can truly feel the lifestyle of residents in Changsha as I just went across the secluded streets. The cuisines in Changsha are very spicy, and the local people can tolerate them. I also met some new friends in the local bar. They are very friendly, and they told me a lot about the history of Changsha. How to take the trip depends more on you. There is no standard answer. But from my point of view, I prefer traveling alone.

All things being equal, young people may like to live in the past. I can imagine that living within such a stressful modern society is not preferred. Nonetheless, we must admit that living condition has improved. Young people would not be more comfortable if they lived in the past on account of the lack of the Internet. Hence, in my own opinion, it is certain that life today is easier.

The economic position limited the selectivity of your lifestyle in the past. Although we would take advantage of the lower living pressure, the development of techniques was insufficient. Moreover, at least we have various job choices with considerable income and at present. In the past, we would have to struggle for hunger, which is another type of pressure. For instance, my parents tell me that they did not live well when they were young. All the methods they earned their living were to do agricultural work, which is exhausting. Also, they were often starved because of the bad weather, which led to scarce food storage.

Some young people are eager to live in the past because they are curious. They can only imagine the previous lifestyle through photographs or so. I consider curiosity the most significant reason for them to be willing to live in the past. Only if they experienced how hard living in the past was would they give up this idea. The young generation lives in a comfortable globalized world. Hence, they cannot consider the condition of previous decades.

As a young student, I can sincerely feel why other students will come up with the supposition. The amount of population skyrocketed, yet most of them need to compete with others. We are all exhausted, and we want to escape. Nevertheless, with the development of science and industry, we can assert that we live more comfortably nowadays.

Compared with the past, when we are struggling for the living, we have more choices. Internet and industrial development intrigues various choices of jobs, hobbies, etc. Nonetheless, in my own opinion, self-enjoyment and jobs that we should do are equally crucial.

Only if people accumulate sufficient wealth can they be free to do self-enjoyment. It is not only for ourselves but for human society. Everyone is responsible to contribute to the social system, which is the main difference between human beings and other animals. For instance, scientists spend their whole life overcoming a specific research problem. Similarly, doctors in China work for many hours every day with little income for patients. The division of labor in society makes up the splendid human history.

However, we can not spend our whole lives in what we should do because we will be exhaustive. And creating room for your enjoyment is also essential. I am a student majoring in chemistry. When I finished my lab assignment, I will spend several hours playing basketball with my classmates. It is not a waste of time. On the contrary, a regular and reasonable lifestyle can help you do your job more efficiently.

Moreover, we may not be limited in just several kinds of enjoyment, especially in such modern society. If your financial condition permitted, you can try other kinds of things such as driving, hiking, playing the piano and so on. You may find what you want to do if you have tried something else. For example, a famous author in China has won a competition of car race because of his talent. He writes to earn money to support his car race, which is a wonderful story. These cases encourage us to chase what we enjoy.

In summary, I think both personal enjoyment and things we should to is equally essential.
