In modern society, ideas play an essential role in developing technology to solve various problems. Thus, many think that the best ideas come from a passionate interest in commonplace things. The statement might be right under certain circumstances. However, I can not go all the way with the statement since the best ideas require more than an interest in commonplace things.

It is undeniable that commonplace things have indeed raised numerous influential ideas that have a significant impact on society. In the 1600s the fall of an apple inspired Newton, who discovered gravity and proposed three laws in mechanics. With the marvelous discovery, the physics cognition of the majority changed rapidly. Observant people enjoy their lives, and they could obtain useful information from the most commonplace things. Additionally, they are capable of comprehending known information in an effort to get the principles. In this sense, they could apply the principles to solve the problems. They could also help others to live better and have a better understanding of the world.

Despite commonplace things raised ideas under certain circumstances, they might mislead people to specious thoughts. The more people insist on these ideas, the more frustrated they would be. Before the successful flight, the Wright brothers failed many times while trying to build reliable aircraft. They claimed that their imitation of avians is unsuccessful. They finally withdrew the imitation ideas and adopted physics knowledge to complete the first reliable plane. Perhaps looking for inspiration to reach for ideas is easy when it comes to commonplace items. However, commonplace things can mislead us on certain occasions because we can hardly have an overall understanding of them. Thus the statement that the best ideas come from an interest in commonplace is unconvincing for some cases.

Finally, related knowledge is vital for people to raise ideas. Solving challenging problems requires abundant background knowledge, which is the basis of an deduction. With the observation of commonplace things, people can only obtain limited information which is probably insufficient for further reasoning. In some cases, lack of information can lead to wrong conclusions. People may suffer a lot before they realize their mistakes. To overcome the confusion and correct their mistakes. People can get help from their ancestors by reading books and papers. The prior researchers have solved numerous problems that people are worried about nowadays. For the new issues, however, the existing knowledge might offer help and ideas as well. So an interest in commonplace things only contributes part of the best ideas.

In summary, we might draw the conclusion that the best ideas arise partly from an interest in commonplace things. Ideas do come from commonplace things, yet researchers rely more on academic records to guarantee correctness for their thoughts.

When people attempt to judge their living standards, they are likely to compare their lives with those who lives decades ago. Most people hold that their lives are more manageable and comfortable than those of the previous generation. They attribute the improvement to the development of technology. However, I couldn’t agree with this point of view more. I firmly believe that the improvement of productivity benefits people’s lives from various angles.

First of all, a wide variety and quantity of foodstuffs are available for people nowadays. Modern agriculture has brought about an increase in grain production. People can feed live stocks with excessive grain for more nutritious food, such as meat, milk or eggs. With the advanced agricultural technology, varieties of fruits and vegetables can grow in greenhouses during the winter. People could have access to quantities of greens with lower cost. With varieties of food, people nowadays prefer healthy diets and good quality food, while residents suffered from starvation decades ago.

Furthermore, people live in better accommodations than they were in the past. Most houses and apartments today have installed air conditioners and heating. These facilities could provide comfortable and livable environments for people. In contrast, these devices are too expensive for the majority living in the past. They surely had a difficult time during extreme weather.

What’s more, the World Wide Web has enriched people’s lives drastically in the past decade. Varieties of applications are available for people to meet their needs. People can shop online, communicate with friends on Twitter, and recreate themselves with the latest games. All the softwares were never as handy as they are at present. They would ease people’s lives and provide users with more pleasure.

All in all, we can draw the conclusion that people nowadays have more comfortable lives than those of their grandparents. In this sense, we should treasure the cozy lives today and work hard for the future.
