The operation of libraries requires substantial investment and, many people now tend to read books online. So, digital libraries may substitute public counterparts although public libraries still perform some functions.

Nowadays, many platforms and websites for reading books have already appeared. So, people can borrow the books then turn them back on the internet anywhere in anytime. Public libraries are hence less and less indispensable. Then the expense of keeping public libraries, including electricity bills, the salary of personnel and spending taking care of books are considerably reduced. Governments thus could put that money into developing other infrastructures.

Additionally, e-libraries can help people read conveniently, encouraging them to read more. Most public libraries now still provide paper books rather than electronic devices for people to read. But cell phones have already been popular. If readers want, they can download applications to read e-books even without any payment. Therefore, they could save the transportation fees and the money spent on handling readers’ cards. It could benefit readers, especially those who couldn’t afford paper books or live far away from libraries. Since it would be cheaper and simplify the procedures of getting books, readers’ enthusiasm on reading are sparked.

Yet, sometimes real libraries might not be a wasteful use of money. The reason is that the surroundings here are much better than noisy offices or messy homes. Those libraries require all visitors to read quietly and close their mobile phones. Readers thus can settle to reading instead of being distracted by games and notifications.

In conclusion, telecommunications are an excellent source of knowledge. But, in some cases, the availability of public libraries is necessary as well.

Students with the most excellent academic performance are often rewarded. But some people believe encouraging those who make progress is more significant. I think that the former is possibly a better option.

People agree on rewarding top students, arguing that the method can motivate more students to work hard. The reason is that they can set examples for average students. Many young children fail to understand the significance of education. But if schools, teachers and parents give rewards like gifts, prizes and, scholarships to straight-A students. The favorable outcomes will spark others’ desire to learn from encouraged students. For instance, poor students are likely to review notes and do exercises, reaching their full potential and, achieving the best grades. Consequently, the practice can boost the general performance of the class.

But some people support the system rewarding students who improve their performance. They believe that this way can boost the motivation of average students. Because many students who rank bottom may feel hopeless to improve their performance. But rewarding those who make progress can give them role models, gaining them an understanding that making progress is a kind of excellence. To get recognition from others, average students may do exercises and attend more lessons. So, they are likely to get higher grades.

As for me, I am for the idea that we ought to encourage learners with the best academic performance. Because keeping their scores and stepping forward are more challenging and competitive. Sometimes the high-achievers may have a thought to give up as well. In this case, an impressive prize from others can be quite powerful, motivating them to hold the line.

The diagram illustrates the the percentages of different kinds of books sold in a bookstore in three years.

Starting at a data of 20%,the selling of adult fiction increased dramatically in the next 20 years to 35%.In2012,it reached the peak of all the figure(45%)in the table.Similarly, the growing trend of children was showed as well. However, the proportion of its selling solely climbed insignificantly by 2%and 3% in the 2 years respectively.

Different from them, ‘others’books were bought less and less by customers, decreasing from the highest data in 1972 at 25% to 18% 20 years later. In the 2012,the rate of it was less than half of it in 40 years ago (12%).When it comes to the biographies,it fell sharply, too.Drpping to the bottom of the graph ,there was a considerable decreasement(20% to 5%)of it from 1972 to 1992 Although 2012 witnessed a slight fluctuation of it,it still remained the lowest in the year.As for the proportion of books about traveling ,a minimal rise from 15% to 20% occurred in the 1992,but the selling of it descreased rapidly ,only helding a data at 10%in 2012.

Overall,in the forty years, books about adult fiction and children fiction took up bigger and bigger parts while other kinds of books all showed a downward trend。
